Our main theme or inquiry this term is ’What’s in a Name.’
This lends itself to learning in the context of the Social Studies Curriculum.
Where possible much of the rest of our teaching and learning programme
will be integrated with our Inquiry into ‘What’s in a Name.’
The Kerikeri KORU KIDS also fits in well with our inquiry and will encourage
the students to exercise and develop the following skills and attributes:

Mathematics will be taught with the intention of linking the learning to real
life problem solving. The key questions that will drive our learning are;
How can we use numerical operations like addition and subtraction to solve
real life mathematical problems? How does statistics help us to understand
and find out more about the people in our community? What tools and units of
measurement are suitable for specific tasks? As students endeavour to
answer these broad questions they will be provided with learning experiences
that further develop their number strategies and number knowledge. I will
continue to encourage children to develop quick and accurate recall of their
basic number facts.
