The Quest For Myself
She was staring in my eyes saying “Wake up Jake”, “wake up”. I shouted stop to my ten year old cousin Grace. In case you didn’t know my name is Jake and I am twelve years old, I live a pretty normal life, in Texas.
But today I woke feeling funny, I felt like I wasn’t in my normal home in Texas, America. Grace said “Come and look outside it’s amazing”.
As I stepped outside on the balcony I almost fainted, this was my normal home I was on a tower about 200 metres off the ground looking out on a town of a busy village.
As a normal person I was stunned at the sight of this. I felt like a king looking down on his kingdom. As I turned around Grace was already running out the door with some sort of piece of paper in her hand. I managed to catch up to her before she went down the stairs, and I almost froze There was a beautiful young woman standing at the bottom of the stairs, even Grace looked shocked too.
She looked so graceful and her emerald dress/gown flowing in the wind. Her voice was as soft and sweet as a gentle flower I was falling in love with her… She said I know where you come from and I also know how to get back.
And so the quest begins. “First you will take the back door out of the castle, then you follow a path to a forest with meat eating monsters in it (be safe), when you come out of the forest you will find a big raging river to cross, after the river will be a massive mountain made of glass, soon after that you will meet a wizard that will give a choice to make, later on the quest you will find a very wicked witch who owns a fire breathing dragon, after you escape her you will find a pond and your object that will get you back home will be at the bottom of the river but the sand around the edge is quick sand”.
“I have packed some things in a bag for you use them wisely”. The bag included, rope a mirror and a piece of chewing gum. She opened up a curtain and there was a dish of items “Choose carefully” she said in a deep low voice. On the dish was a stick, a piece of meat and a diamond, this time I let Grace choose, she decided on the diamond because it was the prettiest.
“Now you be on your way”. Called the the woman who I called the green queen. Grace still hadn't read what the paper said, so I snatched it off her.
The note read Do not tell her your name and don’t trust her at all…
I was speechless, I just didn’t know what to say at the sight of this.
I quickly showed grace, she covered her mouth in shock and pulled the face she always pulled when she’s is surprised.
My questions after that fiasco were how did she get that note? And why doesn't the person who sent the note want us to tell the green queen who we are? My mum and dad always told me don't talk to strangers, and this was the perfect example of that saying. So I and Grace decided next time we saw the green queen we would try to ignore her.
As we followed the path into the forest we kept an eye out for any meat eating monsters. Not long after that we heard a low growl and I dragged Grace Into a bush, she was screaming so I had to cover her mouth until she stopped screaming.
I told her not to move a muscle. Surprisingly she listened to my instructions (She doesn’t normally do that), maybe she listened because her life was in danger, and she was scared so much she wasn’t thinking straight.
And I was right around the corner was a raging river spitting water at us. Although there was a fallen tree crossing over the river it would take us a long time to cross it with that face Grace has got right now. It was getting dark so we slept behind a bush for the night.
The next day we finally crossed the river with the tree and you won’t believe what we saw a massive mountain made out of glass I Knew then I had a long way to go before we got back home, and the treacherous journey began.
As we climbed the glass mountain we kept sliding down, and then Grace had an idea. As she pulled out the chewing gum my eyes lit up like diamonds.
As we chewed the pieces of chewing gum they became stickier, and soon we were able to stick them to our boots and climb to the top of the mountain. When we climbed to the top there was a peculiar hut with a fire going outside.
We walked inside and sat there was an old wizard with his pink Llama in the corner drinking water and eating leaves. He sat there looking like he had been waiting for us all this time. He spoke his voice very crisp and clear.
He whispered “ you can ask one favour of me”, I thought about this very thoroughly. Then I said i’ll take the pink Llama. The wise wizard raised one eyebrow then said ok then, take at your own risk.
But little did I know that this normal Lama would be a big help on our quest. As we started heading down the mountain to get going we had the same problem as before, but this time we knew what to do.
As we continued through the forest we came to a tower in a forest clearing, we saw steps up the tower, but there was one little problem I wanted to go up but Grace didn’t.
So I decided she could stay here and keep watch, while I go up and explore with Mooooo the pink Llama. As I climbed up the tower I noticed that there was no windows at all. As I got to the top an old lady was brewing something in her cauldron and then suddenly out of nowhere as if by magic a massive fire breathing dragon appeared.
The witch cackled continuously and threw a massive piece of rope around me and the pink Llama, I screamed as loud as I could and instantly Grace came rushing through the door as if she had been waiting all along. The witch shouted “you have to make a decision, either I get to keep the girl or I get to keep the pink Llama”. This was one of the hardest decisions i’ve ever had to make.
I sat there with my mouth open speechless almost breathless, then the pink Llama snapped rope in half and managed to knock the witch and the fire breathing dragon out.
We all managed to get a quick escape, but then the witch woke up from her concussion fuming she then revealed herself she was the green queen she screamed and then blasted a hole in the wall, but little did she know that that hole in the wall would help us.
I said jump and pulled Grace and the pink Llama down with us, then after I realised that the sand we jumped into was quick sand, the pink Llama shouted stay still. The quick sand started to sink into itself and we managed to escape.
It was just as the the evil green queen had described a lake with a beach on it, I swam around in the lake and then discovered a mirror.
I looked in it and thought I have finally found my self, the power of finding myself was enough to send me back home, and guess what I got to keep the pink Llama too. THE END.
